Means Test Fee
A care recipient may be asked to pay a means tested care fee based on their level of income and assets. The means tested care fee cannot exceed the approved care provider’s cost of care for the care recipient (an amount equal to the basic subsidy amount plus all primary supplement amounts for the care recipient).
The means tested care fee is the lessor of:
‘income tested amount’ plus an ‘asset tested amount’ less the ‘maximum accommodation supplement amount’ ($53.24 per day as at 20 March 2015)
and
the basic subsidy amount plus all primary supplement amounts for the care recipient.
This is a rather complicated area and therefore recommend you contact us to discuss in details. There are some caps and limits to the means tested fee, which you can read about here.
